Lilly's baptism was great! She was nervous-excited all day, her baptism wasn't until 5:30, and she kept reminding us to check the time to make sure we weren't late. We bought her cute dress back at Easter time when it's easier to find white dresses. A friend of ours was scrambling last year and ended up having to make a dress the night before - I knew that couldn't be me!!
She shared the night with a boy in the ward who turned 8 in august as well. His name is Taylor. So we got to split the assignments for the program between our 2 families. Lilly asked Shea to give the talk on Baptism and she did an amazing job of gearing it towards the kids getting baptized and not the adults. She also asked Gage to say the closing prayer and picked the closing song of "I'm trying to be Like Jesus".
Larry performed the baptism- his first ever!- and he said he was only nervous in the beginning and then he just wasn't nervous anymore once he got going. Lilly said the water felt like a bathtub and her little toes were super close to popping out of the water but didn't.
She was super quick to change out of the wet clothes that she ended up beating all the guys out by several minutes. During this time she received several cute gifts from family and friends. Her friend Isabella Coleman came with her Mom which was a surprise to me! They are in a different ward now and I didn't think to tell her but Lilly had told Isabella at school and she asked her Mom if they could come- it was very sweet! Her primary teacher from a few years back, Sister Jones, came too. Lilly absolutely LOVED her as a teacher and she was switched to a different ward as well but we ran into her in the hall at church and invited her to come! I think she was overjoyed that Lilly remembered who she was. Her friends from our ward and their families came as well.
These were the 'guys' that confirmed her (minus Gabe but we didn't want to exclude him from being in the picture... oh and Johnny over there on the couch didn't confirm her either. :)) These are the same friends of ours that blessed Lincoln back in July minus 1- who ended up being sick and couldn't make it.
It was a wonderful day. Lilly was overcome with love and the realization of just how many people care about her and want to support her. She said she felt 'full' inside with happiness. I'm happy for her and her beautiful smile and sweet spirit.
To conclude the day we and several other families met up at McD's afterwards. We were all hungry and the kids got to play while adults chatted. Then Larry treated all the kids to ice cream cones before heading home.
